Chapter 303 300. Destined to Be Single
Early in the morning, Wu Dongming got up as usual, washed up, and put on his clothes and shoes.
Su Peng had already left the dorm—most likely to find An Han—while the other two roommates had only just woken up.
Ever since his interactions with An Han became fewer and fewer, he had gradually shifted his focus to studying.
Thinking about it carefully, An Han had always been the one who led him astray before. Look at him now—going to class early every day, spending noon at the library, and studying seriously at night… Although it was a bit tiring, he felt that if he kept it up, he might even try taking the postgraduate entrance exam next year.
Wu Dongming picked up the textbook for his morning class and pushed open the dorm door. When he looked up, he saw someone unexpected.
Long Xing?
He used to visit An Han’s dorm often, so he was somewhat familiar with Long Xing. But the two of them never really had any overlap in games or daily life.
Looking at Long Xing in confusion, he turned his head back toward the dorm room, thinking Long Xing might be looking for someone else.
“Su Peng left early this morning.”
“Mm.”
Long Xing nodded expressionlessly. He seemed to be simply standing in the hallway, blowing the morning breeze and daydreaming—or perhaps waiting for one of his own roommates.
Wu Dongming didn’t think much of it and yawned as he walked toward the elevator.
Although the dorm building had elevators, waiting ten minutes during peak hours was slower than just taking the stairs.
But it was still early now, and the elevator was unusually empty.
However, when he stepped inside, he saw Long Xing follow him in.
“???”
Wu Dongming instinctively glanced sideways.
Just a coincidence… right?
Long Xing, meanwhile, quietly observed Wu Dongming. The more he looked, the more something felt off.
Although he had only met the girl he had fallen for at first sight once—and that meeting lasted less than a minute—the Wu Dongming before him seemed different from his future wife in both posture and height.
His wife seemed a bit taller.
But his wife had been wearing high heels...
He rarely examined another man this carefully, but Wu Dongming was already beginning to sense that something wasn’t right.
“Brother Long, do you need something from me?”
Long Xing immediately withdrew his gaze and tried to find something to talk about.
“Well… did you and An Han have a fight?”
Once he started talking, Long Xing became more fluent. He put on the demeanor of a big brother concerned about An Han’s relationships.
“At the end of last semester I barely saw you two hanging out together. I thought things might get better after the winter break.”
Why does everyone keep asking about An Han?
Wu Dongming shook his head helplessly and frowned.
“We didn’t fight. It’s just that she…”
Would it be a bit rude to say that An Han looks too much like a girl?
“I’ve been preparing for the postgraduate exam, so I just don’t have time to bother with her,” he changed his explanation. “Besides, she’s moved out of the dorm now.”
Long Xing kept observing Wu Dongming’s facial features.
The more he looked, the more convinced he became that Wu Dongming was very different from the girl he liked.
Height could be explained by high heels. Body shape couldn’t be judged clearly under winter clothes.
But the face and facial features were completely different.
Even with makeup, how could someone turn Wu Dongming’s diamond-shaped face into an oval one?
Wu Dongming felt increasingly uncomfortable under Long Xing’s gaze. Standing in the elevator made him strangely uneasy.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, he hurried away.
But Long Xing followed behind him, keeping a distance of several meters no matter whether Wu Dongming sped up or slowed down. He didn’t approach—just stared at his back silently.
Wu Dongming had originally planned to grab breakfast, but now he had completely lost his appetite.
He suspected that Long Xing might be planning to beat him up.
He had no idea how he might have offended Long Xing… but if he took even one punch, his skinny body wouldn’t be able to handle it.
In his panic, he reached the school gate—just in time to see Su Peng riding a bicycle into campus with An Han sitting behind him.
Wu Dongming immediately ran over to greet him.
“Su Peng!”
An Han had been leaning against Su Peng’s back sleepily, but hearing his voice startled her awake and she poked her head out.
She saw Wu Dongming looking slightly panicked.
And she also saw Long Xing slowly following behind him.
So… had the attack already begun?
How far had it gone? Had he already been forcibly kissed?!
No way… that’s terrifying!
Su Peng stopped the bicycle and looked at Wu Dongming running toward them in confusion.
“An Han! Did you tell Long Xing to beat me up?!”
“Huh?” An Han was startled by the sudden accusation. “Of course not!”
“Then why is he…” Wu Dongming glanced back at Long Xing. “Staring at me like a pervert.”
An Han also looked toward Long Xing.
To be fair, although Long Xing’s appearance was quite handsome, his prison-inmate-style haircut, his sneaky posture, and that suspicious gaze…
He really did look like someone about to throw a sack over Wu Dongming’s head and beat him up.
“It’s just a misunderstanding…” she sighed helplessly.
“A misunderstanding?”
She wanted to explain.
Wu Dongming would be easy to convince, but Long Xing…
Judging from his expression, he seemed completely convinced that the girl he fell in love with at first sight was Wu Dongming.
Long Xing wouldn’t do anything strange to Wu Dongming… right?
An Han felt the whole situation was absurd.
How had Long Xing still not realized that Wu Dongming wasn’t the girl he liked?!
Yawning, she jumped down from the bicycle.
It was still early morning. She hadn’t woken up properly yet—Su Peng had knocked on her door early, urged her to wash up, and before she could fully wake up she had been put on the back of the bicycle and delivered to school in a daze.
“An Han, Su Peng.” Long Xing slowly walked over and greeted them. “Want to grab breakfast together?”
“Sure.”
Wu Dongming shrank back a little and shook his head.
“I’ll go to the classroom to read first.”
After saying that, he ran toward the teaching building as if escaping.
“When did he become so studious?” An Han muttered. After all, Wu Dongming used to be just like her—never missing class, but always reading novels or playing games during lectures.
It almost felt like she had been left behind.
“Usually no one plays games with him, so he can only read books,” Su Peng explained beside her.
Not paying much attention to Wu Dongming anymore, An Han turned to look at Long Xing.
Long Xing sighed with a disappointed expression.
“Guess it’s not him. Since you know that girl, why won’t you tell me about her?”
You finally figured it out!
Seeing his expression, An Han sighed again and explained helplessly.
“I already told you—she doesn’t want to see you. I asked.”
Su Peng instinctively wrapped an arm around An Han’s waist, once again declaring her “ownership” to his former rival, and added in agreement:
“If she doesn’t want to see you, why keep obsessing over one person? There’ll always be other girls you like.”
“...”
Looking at the two of them being so intimate, Long Xing felt like he had just been force-fed a mouthful of dog food.
He nodded perfunctorily, sighed again, and walked alone toward the cafeteria.
At least the last time he fell in love at first sight, there had been some development afterward.
But this time, he couldn’t even meet the person.
Was he really destined to be alone for the rest of his life?
Thank you for all those chapters!
