Chapter 335 332. Tight Living

Apr 03, 2026 1,383 words

Early Monday morning, the two of them sat on the living room sofa, staring blankly at each other in confusion.

After finishing the last of the small lobsters, their once comfortable lifestyle had vanished.

Because of her previous lavish spending—and the fact that she had bought most of the household supplies for the rented apartment—An Han now only had a few hundred yuan left. There were still half a month before her next allowance arrived.

That amount would have been enough if she were eating alone in the school cafeteria.

But now her rich second-generation boyfriend was so broke he couldn’t even afford meals.

“Your card got frozen?”

Su Peng’s Alipay was linked to his parents’ bank card. In the past, the only thing he paid attention to was the spending limit in the app. But now...

“Not really.” Su Peng glanced down at his phone, sounding a bit guilty but stubborn. “If I spend their money, that means I’ve admitted defeat.”

“Then how much money can you still spend?”

An Han leaned over curiously to check.

“Refunds from some online purchases went back to my balance… two hundred.”

Without touching his hidden savings, Su Peng was practically a certified poor guy.

After both of them sat in silence for quite a while, An Han finally sighed.

“No more late-night snacks from now on.”

“For meals during this time, just use my money. In the cafeteria, two bowls of rice with two meat dishes and two vegetables is less than twenty.”

Su Peng’s expression didn’t look great. He didn’t like the idea of relying on An Han to pay for food and drinks. It made him feel like a kept boy toy.

After a pause, he added, “Those hidden savings are still basically my parents’ money. Since we’ve already fought and fallen out, it’s better not to use them.”

“So you secretly save private money too~”

“……”

He quickly changed the subject.

“I’ll find some part-time work these days. Maybe work in the cafeteria? The pay isn’t high, but it includes lunch and dinner.”

“Have you ever even worked a part-time job…?”

An Han looked doubtful. Considering his household skills, he’d probably tremble even just serving food at the cafeteria window… though other cafeteria ladies also shake the ladle—it’s practically a tradition—so maybe that was fine.

“No.”

“Pfft~”

An Han suddenly found a field where she was superior and proudly raised her chin, showing off smugly.

“I’ve been working part-time since the summer vacation of high school! My old laptop was bought with money I earned myself!”

Seeing her unbearably smug face, Su Peng couldn’t resist reaching out and pinching her cheek, giving it a gentle pull. The soft collagen seemed ready to spill out.

“Ah! That hurts hurts hurts!!!”

“I didn’t even use any force.”

“It does hurt!”

When An Han finally broke free, her eyes had even turned slightly red.

Seeing that she wasn’t pretending, Su Peng hurriedly tried to comfort her in panic.

Her sensitive constitution made it hard for her to tolerate pain. Even bumping her foot on the coffee table would make her howl for minutes. She’d been so annoyed that she eventually wrapped the table legs with clothes.

“It’s about time to go to class.” An Han rubbed her cheek, glared at Su Peng in dissatisfaction, and stood up. “Let’s go. If you’re late, your scholarship might be gone.”

She suddenly froze, then asked excitedly:

“Wait! Right! When does your scholarship get paid? That’s your own money, right?”

“Sometime this week.”

“How much will it be?”

“A few thousand, probably.”

If they really got a few thousand, plus the living allowance An Han’s father regularly sent her, the next two months would basically be worry-free.

An Han instantly felt the burden of life disappear.

After all, no matter how badly Su Peng argued with his parents, it was probably temporary. Two months would be more than enough time for them to cool down.

“You were worried just now! See? It’s already solved!”

An Han happily ran to the bedroom to grab the books needed for the morning classes. After quickly tidying up her appearance, she rushed out again in less than two minutes with energetic urgency.

“Let’s go! Time for class!”

“And grab some breakfast on the way!”

But downstairs, when Su Peng got onto the bicycle, An Han noticed something strange.

She moved closer to his left side, and Su Peng quickly shoved his hand into his pocket, steering the bike with one hand.

“Get on,” he called.

“Is your hand worse?”

“It’s fine. Just hurts a little.”

“It’s not fractured, is it?”

Su Peng paused, then shook his head casually.

“I just bumped it. How could it be a fracture?”

“Want to go to the campus clinic?”

Seeing the concern and worry in An Han’s eyes, Su Peng could only smile lightly and nod.

“Sure. Anyway, checking doesn’t cost money.”

“You sit in the back today—I’ll carry you!”

An Han immediately kicked his calf.

“You’re riding with one hand while it’s injured? What if we both fall?”

“Can you handle it?”

“I was riding my bike to school by myself in third grade, okay!”

Although she hadn’t ridden a bike since elementary school… she might need a bit of practice.

Su Peng felt a little embarrassed about sitting on the back of a girl’s bike. After scratching his head awkwardly, he finally got off under An Han’s glare.

“Wait a moment…”

An Han sat on the bike and carefully rode a few meters. Soon she got the hang of it.

“Get on.”

Su Peng plopped down on the back seat, immediately causing the bike to wobble violently. An Han almost lost control and had to quickly plant her feet on the ground to stabilize.

“Why are you so heavy?!”

After he got on, the front of the bike felt several times heavier, making turning and balance much harder.

“I’m only 150 pounds.”

“So fat!”

With some effort, An Han started pedaling, carefully keeping her balance. The bicycle wobbled as it slowly began moving forward.

She sighed in relief. Carrying someone didn’t seem impossible after all.

But suddenly a strong hand wrapped around her waist.

The palm felt burning hot, the warmth passing through several layers of winter clothing and reaching her skin.

“Hiss!”

Whether from pain or ticklishness, the bicycle that had just started moving suddenly stopped.

Blushing, An Han turned back angrily at Su Peng.

“It’s too shaky, and my left hand is injured,” Su Peng explained innocently. “I’m afraid I’ll fall off.”

“Then don’t squeeze so hard!”

“Okay.”

So Su Peng simply wrapped both arms around An Han’s waist, comfortably and righteously pressing himself against her back.

“Why is your waist so thin?”

“Stop talking!”

An Han’s face turned bright red.

Those arms brought a faint pressure around her waist, and she could feel Su Peng’s body heat behind her. It felt as if she were completely enveloped by him, surrounded by a strong sense of security and masculine presence.

Her waist had always been her most sensitive spot. Normally even a playful poke would make her laugh uncontrollably for minutes. Now being tightly hugged there made the sensation feel like a mix of ticklishness and a faint electric shock. The blush on her cheeks deepened even more.

Fortunately the feeling wasn’t too overwhelming. Though embarrassed, An Han focused on steering around pedestrians. The speed wasn’t fast, but they safely arrived at the school gate.

“Get off! Planning to stay there forever?”

Only then did Su Peng reluctantly release her waist.

“What’s the rush…”

“We’re about to miss breakfast.”
