Chapter 166 164. Setting Off

Jan 16, 2026 1,400 words

Su Peng barely slept well all night.

When he woke up, his face was still full of worry. He had no idea what kind of trouble An Han might stir up at today’s blind date.

He had already explained to his family that he liked someone and had no intention of continuing with blind dates, but his parents unanimously insisted that he bring An Han home for them to take a look.

Just liking someone, having a decent relationship—that still wasn’t anywhere near the stage of bringing her home to meet his parents…

They weren’t even officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet. An Han still flipped her attitude toward him from time to time, her emotions changing as fast as turning the pages of a book.

Since he couldn’t bring An Han back, he could only grit his teeth and continue with the blind date.

Su Peng sighed softly. Pressure from his parents on one side, and no progress at all with An Han on the other—it was truly a headache.

The others in the dorm were still asleep. He moved quietly to the balcony to wash up, then changed into a crisp white shirt and black casual pants, casually throwing on a thin jacket and putting on the mechanical watch his parents had given him.

Just by changing his outfit, his tall, straight figure stood out, the youthful student air fading away. Standing in front of the mirror, he looked somewhat slender and refined at first glance, but beneath the white shirt was a body of firm yet not exaggerated muscles.

“Not bad…”

Su Peng muttered, sighed again, and walked out of the dorm with a worried look. He went to the door of the next room and tentatively twisted the handle—the door opened right away.

A strong smell of smoke and alcohol hit him in the face. He frowned and walked inside.

It really was time to let An Han move out.

Letting her hang around with a bunch of men all the time wasn’t good. Sure, it had shaped her somewhat masculine way of thinking, but what if she also picked up smoking and drinking habits…

The curtains inside were drawn, leaving the room dark, mixed with heavy snoring. When sunlight streamed in through the open door, it immediately woke Wang Sheng from the lower bunk.

“Who is it? So early?”

Su Peng looked up at Wang Sheng’s upper bunk, only to find the blanket messily piled in the corner, with no sign of the person he cared about.

“Where’s An Han?”

He scanned the dorm and didn’t see Chen Junjie either. Meanwhile, Long Xing’s bed reeked of smoke and alcohol—it was obvious that the guy had come back from a gathering last night and gone straight to bed without showering.

“Isn’t she sleeping?” Wang Sheng yawned and turned over.

With no other options, Su Peng walked toward the balcony, glanced into the bathroom, then silently left the room.

Could it be that An Han chickened out?

The thought suddenly popped into his mind, and he was instantly overjoyed.

After all, An Han was the type who could be stubborn enough to butt heads with a rock verbally, but when it came to action, she always followed her heart.

If that was the case, he’d have succeeded in using the blind date to provoke An Han, without having to worry about her offending the blind date and dragging him down with her.

The heavy stone in Su Peng’s heart finally dropped. He glanced at the time on his watch and hurried downstairs from the dorm building.

Even driving, it would take at least half an hour to get to the city center; with traffic, an hour or more. In reality, there were still two hours until the agreed time.

But he didn’t dare fully trust his earlier guess. The unease in his heart pushed him to leave early, just in case An Han came back to the dorm and caught him.

He bought a bottle of cola at the school convenience store and jogged toward the main gate.

Shared bicycles and shared electric cars were everywhere near the gate. Although Su Peng could drive, his family wasn’t going to keep a car parked on campus just for him to use anytime.

As he reached the gate, his pace gradually slowed, and the unease in his heart finally faded away.

An Han really had chickened out.

He stepped outside the campus, scanning the shared electric cars parked along the roadside. Before long, however, his eyes were drawn to a pretty young woman standing by the street.

White, long legs paired with a light-colored short skirt and a fitted white turtleneck sweater—just from her back alone, her figure already outshone the heavily edited influencers online.

Her proportions were close to the ideal female figure: long, slender legs that even the most unforgiving white stockings couldn’t conceal, and a soft, slim waist highlighted perfectly by the fitted sweater…

Su Peng’s heart started racing. He watched as the girl turned around, her eyebrows curving like crescent moons as she smiled, her pure yet alluring, delicate face unbelievably familiar.

“Su Peng!”

“……”

An Han jogged over to him, tilting up her fair face, her brows brimming with smug delight. “I knew you’d try to sneak off! Caught you!”

“Y-you even put on makeup?” Su Peng asked in stuttering surprise, losing his usual composure.

“Of course!”

With makeup and that figure, An Han was truly overwhelming.

Su Peng let out a long sigh, his gaze drifting over the rise and fall of her chest.

Even a fitted white sweater couldn’t really outline much of An Han’s curves there…

Bigger really was better.

Seeing Su Peng’s dumbfounded expression, An Han smiled brightly. The embarrassment of wearing women’s clothing was instantly replaced by a strong sense of accomplishment. She put her hands on her hips proudly. “Let’s go!”

Seeing his reaction put her at ease. Once the blind date saw that Su Peng had such a beautiful female companion, she’d surely feel inferior!

Though her mind was filled with excitement and mischievous intent, her vigilance hadn’t dropped at all.

As things developed, she increasingly felt that something was off.

“Alright, alright, get in.” Su Peng had already rented a car and opened the side door for An Han. “I’m the one going on a blind date—why are you dressed so nicely?”

An Han bent over casually and sat into the cramped cabin, comfortably crossing her right leg over her left.

The skirt she hadn’t bothered to adjust was already in disarray, and as she crossed her legs, a flash of black was revealed.

Safety shorts…

Su Peng’s mouth twitched as he reminded her, “Be more ladylike. You’re flashing.”

“It’s fine. I’m wearing shorts under the skirt. I could even take the skirt off and show you.”

They weren’t even safety shorts!

His disappointment was immediate. He walked around the car, checked its condition, and only then sat in the driver’s seat.

It was An Han’s first time riding a shared electric car. Her dark eyes darted around curiously, inspecting the interior. As soon as Su Peng got in, she asked, “Is Wolfgang’s a steakhouse? It looks pretty high-end.”

“Yeah, about a thousand per person.” Su Peng immediately understood her concern. “Don’t worry, it’s on me.”

“Obviously! You’re going on a blind date and your master’s accompanying you—how could you make me pay?”

Her words were sharp, but her expression grew even more excited.

The most expensive steakhouse she’d ever eaten at was only around seventy or eighty per person, with a buffet included.

“Do they have a buffet?”

“No.”

“Then what if I don’t get full? I heard high-end restaurants serve really small portions.”

Su Peng stopped at a red light and finally turned to look at her utterly inexperienced expression, a smile unconsciously appearing on his face. “I’ll definitely make sure you’re full. Don’t worry.”
