Chapter 61 061. You’ve got a serious screw loose!
The cafeteria during military training was so packed that just looking at it killed any desire to go in.
Previously, Long Xing had been around as a deterrent, but now An Han had to come to the cafeteria alone to buy lunch for Su Peng.
Crowds surged in front of the food windows. He looked at the sea of students in their military uniforms and muttered under his breath, “Why are all these kids so tall nowadays…”
Staring at the throng of students—most of them at least half a head taller than him—jostling to get their meals, he felt a bit intimidated.
How was he supposed to squeeze past them?
Gritting his teeth, he pushed forward, trying to part the crowd as he called out softly, “Excuse me, make some room, please~”
But everyone was starving, and no one was willing to give way. After shoving for what felt like forever, he barely managed to move an inch. Ahead, there were still at least three layers of students, showing no sign of thinning out.
An Han had no choice but to fall in line and wait properly. Yet the scene was chaotic—students kept coming and going. He stood there for ages, only to find himself stuck on the outer edge, helplessly watching others get ahead.
Seriously! Having a strong, sturdy body was absolutely essential!
If it were Long Xing with his towering height, he’d have barged straight through without a second thought!
The cafeteria windows had an almost clear divide between boys and girls—each window roughly half male, half female—but An Han didn’t have the nerve to squeeze into the crowd of girls.
“Make some room, please~”
Finally, a student ahead turned to glance at him and shifted slightly to the side, creating a narrow gap.
An Han, sharp-eyed, immediately darted into the opening.
Once inside the crowd, the guys around him seemed to recoil as if they’d seen a ghost, quickly stepping aside. To his astonishment, the path ahead suddenly cleared, and he found himself effortlessly reaching the service window.
As he placed his order, he overheard some murmuring nearby.
“That girl—how’d she end up squeezing in with us guys?”
Girl?!
He froze for a second, then realized he was indeed surrounded entirely by males. His expression stiffened, and fury flared in his eyes as he shot a glare at the speaker.
You and your whole family are girls!
If not for the awareness that his current appearance was nearly indistinguishable from a girl’s, he would’ve instantly snapped back.
“Takeaway,” he snapped at the cafeteria auntie, paid with a scowl, waited briefly, grabbed the food box, and stormed off.
If he’d gone to the girls’ side instead, his current build would’ve let him slip through without a hitch. True, he was on the petite side among guys, but among Southern girls—who were generally quite small—he’d practically be a giant. In any class, there’d only be two or three girls as tall as him.
But he couldn’t bear the embarrassment! What if someone he knew saw him?
Worse—if some girl recognized him, she might think he was shamelessly trying to get close to her under the pretense of buying food.
On his way back, he stopped by the convenience store next to the cafeteria to grab drinks, then jogged back to Su Peng’s dorm.
“Your lunch delivery! Total with Coke: twenty-five!”
He tossed the food box onto Su Peng’s desk and held out his hand for payment.
“How’d the school cafeteria get so expensive? How much meat did you even get me?” Su Peng looked up, bewildered.
“Ten bucks for delivery fee.”
“So… without the Coke, you only spent twelve on my meal?”
Su Peng grumbled as he opened the container—and his eyes widened in horror. “You only bought me vegetables?!”
“Eating more veggies is good for you,” An Han explained solemnly. “And I got you sugar-free Coke—still a drink, but healthier.”
In truth, he knew Su Peng hated vegetables and was deliberately messing with him, hoping to lower Su Peng’s favorability.
Suppressing a grin, he patted Su Peng’s shoulder with an overly earnest expression: “Look at you—always eating meat. Your health’s gonna crash sooner or later.”
Su Peng poked at the contents of the box with his chopsticks—his face turned green.
Not only was it entirely vegetarian, but it was all dry, oil-free dishes like stir-fried corn kernels and cold mixed hollow-stemmed greens.
“Since when did you start caring so much about Su Peng, An Han? Got something going on between you two?” Wu Dongming rolled his chair over to peek at Su Peng’s meal. “Nice! Might as well be eating grass.”
“What about this other box…?” Su Peng looked hopefully at the second container, secretly wishing for a fried chicken leg.
“This one’s got bitter melon,” An Han cheerfully opened it, crushing Su Peng’s last hope. “Bitter melon’s super nutritious!”
Su Peng let out a lifeless sigh, slumping back in his chair as he glared at An Han’s mischievous grin. “Fine, all veggies—I’ll take it. But at least get me regular Coke! Who actually drinks sugar-free?!”
“I prefer sugar-free. Regular’s way too sweet for me.”
“Alright, alright—whatever. You already bought it.”
He reluctantly popped a piece of bitter melon into his mouth, chewed once, and his whole face scrunched up.
That was unbearably bitter!
“The more bitter, the healthier!” An Han insisted with absurd logic.
“Yeah, yeah, sure.”
An Han pulled up a chair beside Su Peng and stared intently at him. “I’m watching you finish it. Don’t waste any.”
“Please, have mercy!”
Seeing Su Peng suffer through the “vegetarian feast” filled An Han with both amusement and anticipation—he was waiting for the system’s notification.
【Task Complete. Reward: +1 Charm Attribute】
Ugh—not that again!
An Han glanced at the new attribute and silently exhaled in relief.
At least it wasn’t making him more feminine again. Charm points felt pretty useless anyway—he hadn’t noticed them helping him much. Besides, one point of charm probably couldn’t compare to the effects of favorability anyway.
Su Peng, already on the verge of dry-heaving from eating nothing but greens, hastily shoveled some rice into his mouth and sighed, “I should’ve just ordered delivery myself.”
“Tsk tsk—serves you right.”
Su Peng glanced at An Han, taking in that angelically innocent face, and suddenly paused.
Maybe… An Han really was just looking out for me?
The thought popped into his head unbidden.
Even if it was a prank, maybe there was genuine concern underneath—just masked by mischief?
Though he knew An Han wasn’t usually the caring type, his irritation slowly faded.
【Su Peng’s Favorability Toward You +3】
“…”
What the hell is wrong with your brain?!
An Han’s expression instantly darkened. He shot up from his seat and stormed toward the door.
What kind of lunatics surround me?!
Earlier, you caught me red-handed pulling a prank—and now, after forcing you to eat a completely oil-free vegetarian meal, your favorability actually increases?! That makes zero sense!
“You still haven’t boiled water for me yet.”
“Boil it yourself! Has your cold really turned you helpless or what?!” An Han snapped back angrily.
His sudden mood swing left Su Peng completely baffled, but he didn’t dare ask. He could only watch as An Han slammed the door shut behind him.
Su Peng turned helplessly to Wu Dongming. “You’re close with An Han—any idea why he suddenly flipped out?”
“How should I know? He’s been acting weird lately,” Wu Dongming replied, legs crossed and looking entirely unconcerned.
“Yeah… he’s changed so much. Almost like a girl now…” The door suddenly swung open again, cutting Su Peng off mid-sentence. “I mean—he’s getting more and more handsome, right?”
A small head poked through the doorway, emphasizing the correction pointedly.
“And don’t forget to transfer my twenty-five bucks!”
