Chapter 201 199. Preparations
Her mother was coming to the school this weekend!
No matter how she tried to muddle through it, her mom would definitely take a walk around the dormitory. She absolutely couldn’t let her find out that she was renting a place outside now.
Although there were many more things to worry about, problems had to be solved one by one.
The sky had already darkened. An Han hurried toward the dormitory building, with Su Peng close behind her, unable to understand why she was so nervous.
“I can’t let my mom know I’m living off campus. She’ll definitely say I’m wasting money,”
An Han explained casually.
“So I’m going back now to tidy up the dorm and make it look like my bed is still being used.”
Su Peng nodded. “But can she really feel at ease letting you live in the boys’ dorm?”
“……”
An Han didn’t know how to explain. She glanced at the dorm building ahead, quickened her pace, and walked through the glass doors, turning toward the stairs as usual.
“Hey, hey, hey!”
A sudden shout came from behind. “Boys’ dorm! Girls aren’t allowed in!”
An Han stopped. She first looked around with a mix of expectation and confusion, then helplessly sighed inwardly.
So it really is me they’re talking about.
“Which class are you from? What’s a girl doing hanging around the boys’ dorm!”
The dorm supervisor strode over with an overbearing gait, grabbed An Han by the shoulder, and shoved her outward. “Out, out! Who brought you in?”
“I’m a guy, a guy!” She stumbled as she was pushed, hurriedly explaining while casting a pleading look at Su Peng.
The gloating smile on Su Peng’s face vanished the moment she looked at him. “Sir, he’s a guy.”
“Guy my ass! You think just because I’m old I’m blind?”
The supervisor shoved An Han straight out the door and slammed the dorm entrance shut, his face full of displeasure. “And you—bringing a girl into the dorm?”
“Beep—”
The tightly closed door was opened with a student card. An Han poked her head in and said, “I’m a guy, in the same class as Su Peng. You’ve seen me plenty of times before.”
The old man’s face darkened. She didn’t dare say anything more, awkwardly smiling as she stepped back out and obediently closed the door.
I haven’t even been moved out that long, and the dorm supervisor already doesn’t recognize me!
Is it because my chest is too obvious?
She lowered her head and glanced at her chest, whose curves were still obvious even under a padded coat. With no other choice, she made a face through the glass door at Su Peng.
But it was fine—after all, she’d lived in this building for two years.
An Han turned and left the dorm lobby, walking along the fenced wall to the back of the building.
She stopped, scanning the area, and soon found a gap.
Probably for the convenience of delivering food at night, a section of the fence in a hidden corner had been cut open, just wide enough for a normally built man to slip through sideways.
Not long after, Su Peng also appeared behind the fence and reminded her, “Be careful.”
“I’ve crawled through here so many times. What’s there to be careful about?”
An Han muttered as she turned sideways and lifted her leg over the fence, half her body already inside the dorm area. “Help keep watch for me—don’t let the supervisor catch me.”
“I know.”
With a slight duck of her head, An Han was already inside the dorm building. She complained under her breath, “Lived here for two years, and now I have to sneak around just to come back.”
“I really have to make Ren Chi refund my accommodation fee!”
As she muttered to herself, she suddenly realized a serious problem. “Wait! When my mom comes this weekend, I can’t exactly make her climb through the fence too, can I?”
Su Peng comforted her. “The supervisor’s not that strict on weekends. If you’re lucky and don’t run into him, it’ll be fine.”
“Still have to rely on luck…”
An Han frowned as she climbed the stairs, her mind racing. “I’ll have to get you, Brother Long, and the others to help cover for me.”
“If my mom shows up and the supervisor happens to be there, you guys find some excuse to lure him away in advance.”
“No problem.” Su Peng replied with a faint smile.
Although she hadn’t been back for a while, the boys’ dorm still felt familiar.
The slightly stinky stairwell corners from the trash cans, the random drawings on the walls by who-knows-who, and the noisy voices faintly coming from various rooms.
In this environment, An Han’s nerves relaxed quite a bit.
Reaching the familiar dorm room, she pushed the door open just as she always had.
She looked up—only to see Long Xing wearing nothing but his underwear, stepping in from the balcony at the same time.
They locked eyes. An Han, completely unselfconscious, continued walking into the room, while Long Xing silently retreated and shut himself back out on the balcony.
“Why are you back again?”
Chen Junjie, fighting in a game, turned his head to ask. “Thinking of moving back in?”
“All the junk on my desk—wasn’t that you who put it there?”
An Han tidied up her desk. It hadn’t even been that long since she left, yet it was already covered in clutter.
She then looked at her bed, which had been neatly made. The flashy pink-purple color made it obvious it was Chen Junjie’s doing.
Her face darkened as she exploded in anger. “You took over my bed!”
“You’re not coming back anyway.”
Chen Junjie lounged with his legs crossed, asking indifferently, “Are you really planning to sleep in the dorm tonight?”
“I’ve only been gone for a short time…”
An Han scanned the room and noticed someone was missing. “Where’s Wang Sheng? In the bathroom?”
“Wang Sheng’s on a date at the library.”
“He used to be such a homebody…”
Muttering, An Han walked over to the lower bunk that now had only bare wooden boards left. She took down the bucket and washbasin placed on it and wiped the dusty boards with a rag.
Chen Junjie was still thinking about how to completely occupy An Han’s bed, when he suddenly noticed what she was doing and looked surprised. “You’re really coming back?”
“Just setting it up to look like I still live in the dorm.”
An Han explained simply. “My mom’s coming this weekend. I don’t want her to know I live outside.”
“Oh~”
“Don’t mess around then!” Her eyelid twitched.
Su Peng carried in a bamboo mat and bedding, efficiently helping An Han make and tidy the bed.
The lower bunk, which had just been bare wooden boards, now looked a bit more lived-in, but An Han still felt something was off no matter how she looked at it.
“It’s missing a pillow.” She muttered, standing on tiptoe to take Long Xing’s pillow down and place it at the head of the bed.
Then she frowned again, tilting her head slightly as she continued to stare at the arranged bed.
“The quilt’s too thin, and nobody uses bamboo mats in this weather anymore,” Su Peng commented. “I’ll bring my mattress and quilt over on Friday.”
“Mm…”
An Han turned to look at the others’ beds and confirmed Su Peng was right.
Still uneasy, she reminded Chen Junjie, “Don’t throw random stuff on the bed. We’ll need it this weekend.”
“Okay.”
“Then I’m leaving.”
“Not staying for a late-night snack? Barbecue, grilled fish, something like that?”
Chen Junjie turned to ask. “There’s even an induction cooker. What use is it if you take it by yourself? Leave it here and we can have hotpot!”
“I’ll bring it back to you tomorrow—stop being such a hassle!”
