Chapter 340 337. Father and Su Peng
“I really haven’t been handsy with An Han. I’ve been very well-behaved.”
“I usually sleep in the school dorm. I only stay in this room occasionally.”
“I don’t even know what An Han’s bedroom looks like. She’s never let me go in.”
“We just stay together sometimes and look after each other! Uncle, I’m someone who keeps my promises. How could I forget the guarantee I gave you? Before we get married, I definitely won’t touch her!”
Pressing against the door of the spare bedroom, An Han could vaguely hear Su Peng’s righteous-sounding defense.
“Well-behaved.” “Keeps promises.” “Won’t touch her.”
An Han almost burst out laughing.
She really didn’t know how Su Peng could say those words with such confidence.
The sounds in the room suddenly stopped. A moment later, the door in front of her abruptly swung open, and An Han stumbled forward, nearly falling inside.
Her father had expected it and casually caught her before she fell.
“Knew you were eavesdropping.”
“Hehe… I was just concerned about you two.”
He walked toward the kitchen expressionlessly. “Did the groceries I asked you to buy arrive?”
“Another ten minutes.”
An Han followed behind her father and, behind his back, gave Su Peng a questioning look. Su Peng responded with a reassuring glance.
Judging from what she had overheard, it seemed her father half believed Su Peng’s excuses.
She relaxed a little. Just then, the lunch ingredients they had ordered also arrived.
An Han’s father had lived overseas for many years. Living alone there had gradually helped him develop decent cooking skills—slightly worse than her mother’s, but far better than An Han’s.
“Dad, want me to help?”
“No need.”
She carried the ingredients into the kitchen, observing her father’s expression.
Although his stern, expressionless face looked intimidating, the sight of him seriously washing the pot and cutting board somehow had a strangely cute contrast.
“Go watch TV or play on the computer,” her father said while opening the delivery bag and checking the ingredients, planning what to cook for lunch.
“Okay!”
“In the afternoon, take me around your school? Last time I left in a hurry and didn’t get to look around much.”
Last time you were clearly in a hurry to go on a date with Mom…
An Han silently complained about her father but quickly agreed, then returned to the living room and plopped down on the sofa.
Even though her father’s favorability toward her was already very high, she still felt guilty inside and couldn’t help feeling pressured whenever she faced him.
She looked up at Su Peng, who was sitting on a small stool, restless and uneasy.
“Why aren’t you sitting on the sofa?”
“I’m scared.”
“….”
After hearing the sounds of stir-frying from the kitchen, Su Peng finally scurried over and sat beside An Han.
“Not scared anymore?”
“He’s cooking. He doesn’t have time to deal with me,” he sighed, leaning back on the sofa. “Why does your dad always seem to dislike me?”
Last time he went to An Han’s house, he had clearly felt his future father-in-law’s hostility. Later it eased a little, and the man even approved their relationship.
He had thought that after so much time had passed, the man would at least have some goodwill toward him. But after meeting again this time, things didn’t seem much better.
“Maybe because my grandpa always treated him the same way?” An Han guessed casually.
Then she curled her legs up and played with her phone. “You don’t have anything… embarrassing in the house, right?”
“Nope.”
“That’s good… If my dad found something strange…”
An Han was worried Su Peng might have secretly prepared things like condoms or other sex-related items in the house, waiting for a chance to go further… If her father discovered that, Su Peng might get beaten to death on the spot.
Fortunately, the guy was fairly honest.
After playing on her phone for half an hour, her father called out from the kitchen:
“Food’s ready! Come carry the dishes.”
“Coming!”
“I’ll do it! You stay here.”
Su Peng eagerly jumped up from the sofa first and hurried into the kitchen to help.
Soon, three dishes and a soup were placed on the coffee table. Her father directly sat on the sofa, taking Su Peng’s seat, leaving Su Peng to drag over a small stool and sit opposite them.
“Try it.”
The three dishes were simple stir-fries, along with a bowl of tomato egg soup.
“Uncle, your cooking is great. It’s delicious!”
Her father glanced at Su Peng but didn’t respond. Then he stood up and walked toward the balcony.
“You two eat first. I’ll go tidy up your place.”
“Dad, it’s already pretty clean…”
“It’s messy everywhere. It annoys me.”
An Han rolled her eyes slightly in dissatisfaction.
She cleaned once a week, after all. The apartment was actually fairly neat—things were just placed a bit randomly.
Of course, compared to her mother’s cleaning schedule of once every two days, it was still less frequent.
Seeing her father leave, Su Peng slowed down his eating and complained quietly to An Han:
“This tomato soup is way too sour…”
An Han took a spoonful of the soup and narrowed her eyes slightly.
“It’s good. I like sour things. The seaweed soup and tomato soup outside barely have any sourness.”
While speaking, she heard the sound of her father opening the bedroom door.
She froze mid-sip, suddenly realizing she might have forgotten something…
Although there were a few clothes tossed casually on the bedside table that made the room look messy, all the underwear was stored in drawers. There shouldn’t be anything embarrassing, right?
“What’s wrong?” Su Peng asked, confused.
“Nothing.”
An Han shook her head. She genuinely couldn’t remember what she had forgotten.
At most she’d just get scolded for leaving clothes lying around…
Wait!
She suddenly realized and jumped to her feet, rushing toward the bedroom.
Just as she peeked inside, she saw her father opening the wardrobe and placing some folded clothes inside.
Seeing An Han appear, her father predictably scolded her:
“You’re a girl. Why are you so sloppy? Clothes thrown everywhere.”
“Well… it’s my own room…”
An Han looked nervously toward the wardrobe.
“You have to pick nice clothes before going out in the morning, right?”
“The wardrobe is messy too…”
“Dad! I’ll organize the wardrobe myself!” She suddenly dashed forward.
“Aren’t all these clothes bought by your mom and me? What’s there to be shy about?”
Then her father curiously picked up a piece of fabric.
An Han stopped half a meter away. Her legs felt heavy and stiff as heat and a deep blush crept onto her face.
“Why do you keep a rag in your wardrobe?”
Her father casually shook the piece of fabric, about to toss it aside, when he suddenly realized something.
He stared in astonishment.
It was a sweater.
A very revealing, backless sweater full of sensual appeal…
So when my daughter lives alone outside… she wears something like this?
He looked blankly at An Han standing to the side.
An Han nervously tucked her hair behind her ear and lowered her head.
“Um… I was just curious. I bought it for fun…”
Her father’s breathing grew heavier.
That brat Su Peng!
