Chapter 284 281. No Man Is a Good Thing

Mar 31, 2026 1,441 words

When she got home, her father was already up.

Rarely, he had taken responsibility for making breakfast for the whole family and was busy in front of the stove. When he saw An Han push the door open and walk in, he glanced at her and muttered sourly, “Went to see that brat again.”

He really didn’t understand what was so great about Su Peng that his daughter seemed completely bewitched by him.

Just a while ago his eldest child had still been a man, yet now she had so quickly fallen for another man… Could it be that An Han had always liked men to begin with?

An Han ignored the strange look in her father’s eyes. She set the bag on the table and took out a tin of tea. “This is from Su Peng for you. Longjing tea…”

“Why didn’t he come himself?”

“He already went back.”

“He left already?” Her father couldn’t hide the surprise in his voice.

But when he saw his daughter’s expressionless face, he quickly restrained the joy that had almost appeared on his face and sighed regretfully. “I was even planning to cook personally and let him try my cooking. What a pity.”

You were clearly about to start smiling.

An Han rolled her eyes. “There are also health supplements for Mom and exercise books for my sister. I’ll leave the bag here. They can take them later.”

“Alright, that kid Su Peng is thoughtful.”

As soon as Su Peng was gone, her father’s way of addressing him changed from that brat to that kid.

Just how much does he dislike Su Peng…

Even after making those “three rules” with Su Peng, it still couldn’t change her father’s dislike toward him.

“Have you eaten breakfast?”

“I have.” An Han grabbed her small shoulder bag and jogged upstairs.

There were still nearly ten days left before winter vacation ended. They had already visited all the relatives they needed to for New Year greetings, so the coming days would most likely be spent gaming online with Su Peng every day.

It wasn’t bad, but after playing for almost twenty days, An Han was already getting a little tired of games.

Her mother was already awake and washing up and doing skincare in the second-floor bathroom. Her younger sister was still sleeping in the bedroom. Even when An Han pushed the door open, it didn’t affect her sleep.

Her sister had quite a good impression of Su Peng, but once she saw the gift he brought her, that goodwill would probably drop by at least a dozen points.

Feeling bored, An Han found a recently well-rated anime. Curling her legs up, she put on her headphones and tucked herself into the chair to watch and pass the time.

After who knows how long, through the headphones she vaguely heard sounds from outside.

“Sis! Sis!”

She paused the video and turned her head toward her sister, who had woken up at some point. “What is it?”

“Is this really my gift?!”

Her sister held up the English exercise book with both hands, puffing her cheeks angrily as she questioned her.

Apparently she had already gone downstairs to eat breakfast without An Han noticing—and had also received Su Peng’s “surprise.”

“I even kindly helped him before! How could he harm me like this?! Was this your idea?!”

“When did I ever?” An Han took off her headphones. After thinking for a moment, she asked, “When Mom saw the exercise book, was she very happy?”

“Of course she was! She even told me to finish it during this period!”

Got it. You’re just the tool Su Peng used to please Mom.

Her sister had just finished all her winter vacation homework and was happily thinking she could enjoy the rest of the holiday, but Su Peng had hit her with a heavy blow.

“It’s fine. Aren’t you the best at English?” An Han felt Su Peng’s move was a bit unfair, but still tried to defend him. “He’s doing it for your own good, right?”

“For my good my foot…” Her sister collapsed onto the bed while clutching the exercise book, wailing and rolling around. “I misjudged him! No wonder Dad said men aren’t good things! They’re all bad people! Bad guys!”

An Han pursed her lips without commenting. If someone had given her an exercise book back when she was in middle or high school, her mentality would have collapsed too.

“An Han.” The door was pushed open by their father. He poked his head inside and saw the chaotic scene. “What’s going on?”

“Dad! I don’t want to do the exercise book!”

“You have to. Your mom said so.”

“Men aren’t good things!”

Her father’s face stiffened. The younger sister snorted and turned to face the wall. “You said that!”

This younger daughter was clearly not as obedient as the older one…

Looking at this mischievous little daughter who was noisy all day, troublesome, and looked like she deserved a spanking, then looking at the obedient, cute, virtuous, and beautiful eldest daughter, An Han was obviously the more likable one.

The only problem was that she had been lured away by that brat Su Peng…

“Dad, what’s up?”

An Han’s attention fell on the huge roll of wallpaper her father had brought in.

“I’m redecorating your room a bit.” Her father happily dragged the wallpaper inside. “Nice color, right?”

The wallpaper was so pink and girly it practically overflowed with childish sweetness. It even had little girls and animals printed on it. Just imagining the entire room covered with it made An Han shiver.

Even girls who were girls from the start usually liked things that were cute and pretty—not childish.

She felt that if Long Xing saw this kind of wallpaper, he would probably be very happy—outwardly resisting while secretly excited.

“Dad… this would suit my sister more…”

Seeing her father looking enthusiastic and ready to start working, she could only protest subtly.

“Once you go back to school, won’t this room belong to your sister anyway? No difference.”

So An Han had to seek outside support. “Sis, do you like it?”

“I like it!”

“When did your sister know you liked this kind of thing~?” An Han said with a smiling threat.

“I like it!”

This kid is asking for a beating!

An Han clenched her fists. Watching her father already excitedly sticking wallpaper on the wall, and her sister who had cautiously escaped to the doorway, she sighed helplessly. “Fine then.”

“You don’t like it?” Her father sensed something off in her tone.

She immediately forced a smile. “I like it very much!”

Her father usually wasn’t home anyway. It was better to indulge him in small matters like this… Besides, after raising a son for twenty years only for him to suddenly become a daughter, he must feel somewhat wronged too.

“Good. Go watch TV downstairs. It’ll be done before lunch.”

“I’ll go shopping with Lin Yue…”

Just as she was speaking, her mother’s voice came from downstairs.

“An Han! Your high school classmate is here to see you!”

An Han froze for a moment and quickly stepped into the third-floor hallway, leaning over the stair railing to look down.

Standing there… was Shi Yi!

During high school, Shi Yi often came over to their house to eat, so her mother knew him.

An Han’s nerves instantly tightened. Then she saw her father also walk out of the room and lean over the railing to look at Shi Yi downstairs.

Seeing that her daughter’s classmate was a man, her father shouted irritably, “An Han isn’t home!”

Yes, yes, not home!

An Han nodded rapidly beside him. With his daughter’s agreement, her father became even more blunt.

“Don’t come again in the future! She’s already gone back to school!”

Dad really understands me!

“But Uncle, I saw her this morning…”

Shi Yi looked up toward the third floor. An Han quickly ducked back out of sight.

“She went out of town this morning!”
