Chapter 315 312. Watching a Web Drama

Apr 03, 2026 1,496 words

“Do you know when my birthday is?”

An Han smiled brightly. Her smile always made Su Peng feel a rush of dopamine, filling him with a sense of happiness.

But this time, seeing that sweet, gentle, pure yet slightly charming smile, Su Peng couldn’t feel happy at all. Instead, a chilling sensation ran down his back, and his heart seemed to stop for a second.

Had he ever celebrated An Han’s birthday before? Had she ever told him the date?

After searching his memory for related information, Su Peng hesitantly said, “October…”

He observed An Han’s expression, only to see her face suddenly darken.

“Definitely not October! Then… March…”

An Han remained expressionless. “You might as well list all twelve months, then ask from the first to the thirty-first.”

“You never told me.”

“This weekend.”

She rolled her eyes at Su Peng and put the folded clothes into the wardrobe.

This weekend—February 24th was her birthday according to the solar calendar. Usually during winter break, she celebrated it early at home.

Actually, according to tradition, people usually celebrate their birthday according to the lunar calendar. But since she had already celebrated once at home, there was no need to celebrate again at school.

In fact, if her mother hadn’t reminded her on WeChat, she would’ve forgotten it herself.

Su Peng quickly wrote down An Han’s birthday in the memo on his phone. Only then did he realize that An Han was actually more than a week older than him.

A relationship where the girl is older?

That added a strange little bit of charm.

“As long as you tell me once, I won’t forget,” Su Peng declared confidently.

But right after that, he started getting a headache.

What kind of gift did An Han like?

From what he knew about her, things like roses or candlelight dinners—romantic but impractical—weren’t really her style. It would probably be better to give something practical… a game skin?

But this was the first time he would celebrate her birthday. Would giving a game skin be too casual?

An Han didn’t ask for a gift anyway. In fact, she didn’t really know what she wanted herself.

Her life now had no real desires or comparisons. Her phone and computer were good enough, there was no need to change the large rental apartment, and she had more than enough clothes.

As for luxury items, she had even less interest.

Without thinking much about it, An Han had already walked to the balcony. She picked up the mop, filled the bucket with water, and prepared to clean the floor.

Finally a day off to rest, yet she still had to personally clean dozens of square meters of floor.

Back in the dormitory days, she was too lazy to even sweep the less-than-twenty-square-meter room, always waiting for Wang Sheng—who had a bit of a cleanliness obsession—to eventually give in and clean it himself…

She put down the mop, turned off the faucet, and took out her phone.

“Hey sons! I’m celebrating my birthday this weekend. Two girls will be there. You coming?”

“+1”

Wang Sheng was clearly sitting in front of his computer. He popped up in the dorm group chat the next second.

Seeing that he took the bait, An Han felt delighted.

“Bring whatever food you like, but don’t mess up my place too badly. If you do, you’re cleaning it.”

“Okay. Junjie and Brother Long should come too.”

After settling things with Wang Sheng, An Han stretched lazily and prepared to shower and take a nap.

But Su Peng had already taken a wrung-out rag and was about to start cleaning. Seeing her come back from the balcony empty-handed, he asked, “Not cleaning anymore?”

“I’m celebrating my birthday this weekend. Those guys from my dorm will definitely come over. Even if I clean everything now, it’ll be messy again.”

“True.” Su Peng also put down the rag. “What gift do you want?”

“Nothing.”

“Then… how about I treat you to a nice meal?”

An Han shook her head quickly.

She had gone to high-end restaurants with Su Peng twice before. The food was good, but every time it made her feel uncomfortable. She simply couldn’t get used to such luxurious decorations.

She was more suited to small roadside eateries. The taste wasn’t necessarily worse than fancy restaurants.

Back in the living room, she curled up on the sofa, turned on the TV, and started a web drama that had supposedly gotten good reviews recently.

The TV membership was paid for by Su Peng—thirty yuan, apparently. An Han thought it was expensive, so she had to make full use of it. Watching one more VIP show meant losing a little less money.

She had just sat down when the opening theme of the drama hadn’t even finished yet, and she noticed Su Peng sitting beside her.

Glancing at Su Peng, who sat more than ten centimeters away, she shifted slightly and leaned closer.

“….”

Su Peng subconsciously lowered his head to look at An Han beside him. After taking off her coat, the faint blush on An Han’s pale neck became especially noticeable. Following her neck downward, he could faintly see her delicate, well-defined collarbones.

Further down was the white, form-fitting sweater she wore. For some reason, her chest looked noticeably fuller than before.

He couldn’t help swallowing. He could feel his body quickly becoming restless.

An Han stared at the TV, but the corner of her eyes was observing Su Peng’s expression. She could also clearly feel that gaze moving around her neck and chest.

But she didn’t feel like teasing him right now. She yawned, feeling a bit sleepy, tilted her body, and leaned against him.

Su Peng stiffened for a moment and quickly moved away from her.

Not because he was timid. It was just that she teased him but never actually let things go further, leaving him stuck in an awkward state. If it even affected his health, that would be even more not worth it.

“Can’t you just hold me while we watch TV?” An Han moved closer again almost immediately.

“You can… but wear something thicker.”

“What kind of weird problem is that…”

Yawning, she stood up, put her coat back on, and then directly sat down on Su Peng’s lap.

Su Peng leaned back slightly and spread his legs apart.

An Han curled her legs like a lazy little cat, shrinking into his arms as she sat between his thighs. Leaning back, she rested against his firm, broad chest.

Just being lightly held like that made her feel an intense sense of safety and comfort surrounding her from all sides.

She hummed softly through her nose in satisfaction and realized that she quite liked Su Peng’s embrace.

It would be nice if she could sleep while being held like this.

His scent filled her nose, her heartbeat gradually slowed, and her mind began to calm down. She was no longer as lively as usual, quietly leaning against him while watching the show, occasionally discussing the characters and plot with Su Peng.

“This male lead looks so ugly… aren’t his eyes a little uneven?”

“For an average person his looks are already pretty good. Of course he can’t compare to me.”

“You’re way too narcissistic!”

An Han liked watching movies with friends and discussing them together. She liked the comfort of being held even more.

It felt as if time had slowed down at this moment…

“That’s hilarious! Did you see that expression just now?”

“Isn’t that the actor from In the Name of the People? What’s his name again…”

Most of the talking was done by An Han, while Su Peng occasionally added a word or two.

“Wu Gang.”

“Yes, yes! That’s him!”

An Han excitedly squirmed in Su Peng’s arms. “He has such a strong presence in every role!”

She had always thought web dramas were poorly made, but she didn’t expect this spur-of-the-moment choice to have fairly good acting, costumes, and plot.

But about ten minutes later, An Han suddenly felt something pressing against her butt.

She froze for a moment and slowly turned her head to look at Su Peng’s calm face.

She hadn’t done anything particularly provocative, nor had she intentionally teased him.

“There’s nothing I can do about it—I can’t control it,” Su Peng explained calmly. “I didn’t even dare hold you too tightly, but I still got a reaction…”
