Chapter 181 179. A Free Life
By evening, An Han had completely moved out of the dorm.
Although Long Xing and Wang Sheng looked reluctant to see her go, and Chen Junjie cursed nonstop, she still said goodbye to her three “sons,” carried the last box of miscellaneous odds and ends, and returned to her rental.
When she passed by the neighboring room, 502, she vented her frustration by kicking the door hard and spitting to the side.
“Pervert!”
She still hadn’t escaped the fate of becoming Su Peng’s neighbor~
An Han even felt that she was now in more danger than when she lived in the dorm.
At least in the dorm there were three roommates around; Su Peng wouldn’t dare do anything too outrageous there. But now they were neighbors, and she was living alone.
“I seriously suspect that when Su Peng was checking the outlets this morning, he secretly installed his own cameras…”
She muttered as she opened the door. After entering, she casually dropped a large bag of miscellaneous items by the entrance, raised both hands, arched her slender waist backward, and stretched.
She kicked the door shut with her heel, let out a long sigh, and flopped comfortably onto the bed.
“Finally, I don’t have to be on edge all the time.”
She took off her thick jacket. Compared to the dorm, where she could only remove it when sleeping, now—even if she stripped naked indoors—there was nothing to worry about.
Of course, the curtains still had to be drawn.
Lying on the bed like a salted fish, An Han half-closed her eyes and suddenly felt how beautiful life was.
Although leaving the dorm came with a bit of regret and sadness, this sense of freedom was just too good.
Except for those scam calls!
She glanced at yet another incoming unknown number. Even though she hung up and blocked them every time, the calls just kept coming.
From the time she left the dorm in the morning until now, scam calls had already come seven or eight times.
“Do I look like someone stupid and rich, easy to scam?”
“At the very least, I’m not rich, okay?”
“If the scammers know my name, they must’ve bought my info too… Don’t they know my monthly cash flow is barely over a thousand?”
She complained nonstop, rejected the call outright, and blocked the number again.
Damn it, what a bunch of psychos!
It might also be that she’d offended someone by accident and they were deliberately harassing her.
Thinking carefully, last month she’d left a bad review on a food delivery order… Even though the shop owner seemed unconcerned and apologized profusely under the review, who knew what was really going on in that person’s head.
An Han suddenly had an epiphany. As for actually winning a prize…
Impossible. She wasn’t exactly unlucky, but she definitely wasn’t lucky either. She hadn’t participated in any raffles recently, and the system’s “unexpected windfall” reward had already been collected from Wang Sheng.
Aside from being a bit stingy, there was nothing wrong with it.
Rolling over, she suddenly felt the urge to buy a set of pajamas.
Back when she lived in the dorm, she liked to wander around wearing only a thin T-shirt and shorts. In summer, it was normal to wear just a top and no pants. But ever since becoming a girl, she’d been wrapped up tightly every single day.
It was supposed to be a place to rest and sleep, yet she still had to stay tense at all times.
“To celebrate the first day of living outside.”
An Han tried to find a light, comfortable set of pajamas online. At first, she even considered men’s pajamas, but an image suddenly flashed through her mind—the thick, grayish-white cotton ones.
Too ugly, and uncomfortable too…
She might as well wear women’s pajamas. After all, no one would see her in a rental.
In a good mood, she searched for women’s sleepwear, her eyes lighting up as she browsed set after set—different styles, different patterns—each one looking prettier and more comfortable than the last.
“This long nightgown is nice. Get home, take off my clothes, slip it on—easy enough…”
“This bathrobe-style one looks great too~”
“Lingerie-style… better forget that…”
“Onesie animal pajamas are so cute~ There’s even a dinosaur one.”
An Han’s smile grew sweeter. With her eyes slightly narrowed, lying on her back, she swayed gently from side to side, hugging her phone and immersing herself in the joy of shopping.
But about ten minutes later, her smile slowly faded.
She stared at the five or six sets of women’s sleepwear she’d added to her cart and fell silent.
“This won’t do. If I let myself go like this right after moving out, won’t my body and mind completely feminize after a while?”
“Wearing women’s underwear is unavoidable. But women’s clothing absolutely cannot be touched! Even if no one sees it, wearing women’s clothes will subconsciously make me more and more like a girl.”
Just like when she dressed as a woman to accompany Su Peng on that blind date—back then, her mindset had been completely feminine, no different from a young girl’s! Otherwise, she wouldn’t have craved Su Peng’s embrace, nor would she have felt scared yet faintly expectant of a forced kiss when the atmosphere turned ambiguous.
She immediately changed her search approach, no longer caring about appearance, and instead picked a men’s pajama set with a shirt and long pants, totaling forty-five yuan.
After that, An Han stopped lying around, flipped herself up, and began organizing the miscellaneous items she’d brought back.
The computer desk in the room was small, but it could easily fit a laptop. The problem was that there was nowhere to put things she didn’t really need. Storage here consisted of only one small wardrobe.
Two years’ worth of books and textbooks could only be neatly stacked in a corner, with a Totoro figurine placed on top…
“Why is my phone ringing again? I’ll turn on airplane mode later—what kind of person is this?” Halfway through tidying up, An Han heard the phone vibrate again. Annoyed, she walked over to the bed to pick it up—only to see it was Chen Junjie calling.
She immediately switched from her irritated tone to her usual neutral voice and answered, “Idiot? What do you want?”
“I’ve taken over your bed!” Chen Junjie’s extremely punchable laughter came from the other end.
“Childish. I’m hanging up.”
“Wait—no, we’re planning to come find you! Where do you live now?” Chen Junjie asked in a fluster. “We’re already in the urban village. We brought barbecue, grilled fish, and alcohol for you.”
“Didn’t we just hang out yesterday?”
“Yesterday was to celebrate Wang Sheng. Today is to celebrate you,” Long Xing’s voice came through the phone. “Housewarming.”
An Han hesitated, glancing at her room that wasn’t fully sorted out yet. “Will Su Peng come?”
“Why would he? He’s not from our dorm.”
She let out a sigh of relief. “Where are you now? Stay put—I’ll come find you.”
“In front of Brother Barbecue.”
“Got it. Give me five minutes!”
An Han hurriedly threw on a jacket and ran out wearing her slippers.
When she passed by 502, she stopped and knocked on the door.
Although Su Peng had rented the room, she hadn’t heard or seen him moving any luggage inside. It was probably just being used as a temporary base.
Tomorrow was Monday, and there would be roll call tonight. Sure enough, Su Peng wasn’t inside.
Completely relieved—no need to worry about him suddenly popping out halfway through the meal to scare her.
“Still, I need to buy some tables and chairs this time… There’s only one chair and a computer desk in the room. It won’t be enough for four people.”
