Chapter 189 187. Are You Here to Get Revenge on Me? 【7/17】
Su Peng sat lifelessly in front of the computer, staring at the two toothbrush cups in front of him, not knowing what to say for a long time.
One cup was ginger cola, the other was brown sugar ginger tea…
One cup was An Han’s toothbrush cup, the other was Su Peng’s toothbrush cup.
“I don’t like the taste of ginger.” He raised his head and looked at An Han, who was standing not far away wearing a mask, staring at him intently.
“Drink it. I didn’t put much in.”
“But you said ginger shreds… why are they cut into chunks?”
An Han paused for a moment, then said righteously, “I don’t have a knife! I could only use scissors to cut them into pieces! Hurry up and drink!”
With a bitter expression, Su Peng hesitated and picked up the ginger cola, taking a small sip.
The rich sweetness mixed with a hint of cola flavor, and then an overwhelming ginger taste rushed straight into his head.
After just one sip, he felt so nauseated that he almost retched.
The taste couldn’t really be called bad—it was just bizarre, plus that unacceptable ginger flavor.
“Is it good?” An Han leaned forward curiously from a distance and asked.
“It’s… it’s okay, I guess… You didn’t try it?”
“I’m not the one with a cold.”
“……”
She pursed her lips, seeing through Su Peng’s deeply hidden look of suffering. “Then try the other cup.”
Su Peng looked at the brown sugar ginger tea with even greater fear. Under An Han’s oppressive gaze, he was forced to take another sip.
As a result, An Han watched him clutch his mouth and retch continuously into the nearby trash can.
“Is it really that bad…” An Han muttered as she straightened up. “I’m going downstairs to buy you breakfast. Finish drinking it before I get back.”
“Go, go.”
“And I should buy some cups too… Drinking from toothbrush cups feels weird.”
As An Han’s voice faded from the room and her footsteps grew more distant, Su Peng instantly shed his patient-like weakness, grabbed both cups, and rushed to the bathroom.
It was just too much.
He returned to the computer desk holding the toothbrush cup and let out a listless sigh.
Getting sick and still having to be tortured by An Han.
He knew An Han meant well, but just staying by his side to chat and helping pick up takeout would’ve been enough. There was really no need to do this much…
“That damn system is forcing me to take care of Su Peng~”
“But Su Peng doesn’t seem very happy.”
An Han walked along the roads of the urban village, searching for the braised food stall she had seen before.
When someone is sick, it’s best to eat light meat to supplement protein and strengthen the body. But the nearby market was far away, An Han wasn’t very good at cooking, and takeout was always heavy on oil and salt. She could only consider braised food—simple, convenient, and possibly considered light.
Mainly, it was convenient.
However, after walking around the urban village, An Han didn’t find the braised food stall. Maybe it hadn’t set up yet, or maybe it had already closed.
She could only turn to duck noodle soup instead.
Although she didn’t like duck and hated that gamey smell, it wasn’t for her anyway.
When she walked into the duck noodle shop, her gaze immediately stopped on a young man sitting by the door. “Why are you here?”
Chen Junjie turned around, glanced at An Han, and rolled his eyes. “My girlfriend lives here. Why can’t I be here?”
“Your girlfriend lives off campus too?”
“She answers roll call every night and then runs out to stay here.”
An Han glanced up at the sign on the wall. As she sat down, she loudly called to the owner, “Boss, one bowl of duck noodles to go, and one bowl of egg noodles to eat here!”
This place mainly sold duck dishes and porridge noodles. An Han didn’t like duck, so she could only eat vegetarian food.
It was breakfast anyway, so it didn’t really matter.
“Why did you take the dorm’s pot? I just told Brother Long last night we’d have hotpot in a couple of days.”
“To cook stuff.”
“Then why are you still coming down to buy food?” Chen Junjie suddenly found the blind spot. “Who’s that takeout for?”
An Han didn’t hide it at all. “Su Peng. He’s sick, so I’m bringing him food.”
“Su Peng? He lives outside too?”
Something about Chen Junjie’s gaze became off.
An Han moved out, and Su Peng moved out too? Could it be that they were already living together?
Usually, their interactions already felt a bit strange—not like friends, but more like a flirting couple…
Lowering his voice, he whispered, “So who’s the top and who’s the bottom?”
“???”
An Han looked at him in confusion.
“Judging by you, you’re definitely the bottom, right?”
She gradually understood what Chen Junjie meant. While gossiping, the guy was also deliberately provoking her.
So she lifted her foot under the table and kicked Chen Junjie, who was sitting across from her.
Caught off guard, Chen Junjie was kicked right in the calf. He jumped up noisily and cursed, “I cleaned myself up nicely to see my girlfriend! And you leave a footprint on my pants?!”
“Serves you right for running your mouth.”
Just then, the owner brought over the egg noodles An Han ordered. She couldn’t be bothered to keep arguing with Chen Junjie and lowered her head to eat breakfast.
Chen Junjie also quieted down, glaring at An Han angrily. But not long after, An Han looked up and asked, “How do you take care of someone who’s sick?”
“How would I know that?” he snapped irritably. “You’re personally taking care of Su Peng? You’re living together already, aren’t you?”
“How is that possible?” An Han absolutely didn’t want her friend to misunderstand her relationship with Su Peng, and her tone became more serious. “We just live close by. I go check on him occasionally and help take care of the patient.”
If not for the system forcing her, she wouldn’t be doing this either!
“Is that so…” Chen Junjie looked at An Han suspiciously, but then he suddenly glanced at the time on his phone, stood up, and ran out. “I’m going to find my girlfriend.”
Watching him leave in a hurry, An Han felt like she was looking at a total simp.
“Is he that in love…” She stared blankly at Chen Junjie’s back.
Without thinking too much, she quickly finished her breakfast, picked up the packed duck noodles, paid, and hurried out of the shop.
She had originally thought about buying something else, but Su Peng might already be waiting impatiently.
Besides, it was almost eleven o’clock—who knew if this breakfast even counted as breakfast anymore.
She jogged back and pushed open Su Peng’s door, panting slightly as she set the breakfast on the table.
“Su Peng! Stop lazing in bed and eat!”
“Coming.”
“Your voice doesn’t sound as hoarse?” An Han looked at him in surprise. “Did the rock sugar stewed pears I made work?”
Su Peng lifted the blanket and got out of bed. “I think it’s the medicine from the hospital that’s working…”
“I’ll go stew another pear for you!”
An Han didn’t listen to him at all and fluttered out of the room like a butterfly.
“……” Su Peng sat silently in front of the computer. After a long while, once he was sure An Han couldn’t hear him, he rubbed his temples and muttered softly, “Could you peel it? That’s really not how rock sugar stewed pears are made.”
“And I don’t like duck meat.”
Through the wall, he heard An Han shouting from the other side, “Lunch at twelve! Eat faster!”
“……”
He looked down at the big bowl of noodles, his smile turning even more bitter.
An Han might be using his illness as an excuse to deliberately take revenge for past grievances.
