Chapter 145 143. !!!
On Monday, An Han lay listlessly sprawled over her desk.
Yesterday’s physical exam had been nothing short of a trip to hell for her.
If not for wanting to know whether the body remodeled by the system had developed any problems, she would never have forced herself to grit her teeth and complete every single procedure.
It was all Su Peng’s fault for having nothing better to do and arranging so many obscure examinations!
Fortunately, the results came back fine—her body was very healthy, without even a single pimple from head to toe.
Resting her cheek on her hand, An Han stared blankly at the teacher on the podium.
Next, she needed to find Ren Chi and fulfill her wish of living off campus.
Although mind reading only randomly picked up the target’s thoughts, as long as the topic didn’t drift too far, it should theoretically be possible to obtain enough “intelligence.”
“An Han, what were you and Su Peng doing yesterday afternoon?”
Chen Junjie, who was sitting next to her, leaned over curiously and whispered, “Why were you limping when you came back?”
“……”
“Don’t tell me—you got analed?”
Can you think of something decent for once?!
An Han almost wanted to hit him, but she glanced at the teacher on the podium and held back her anger, exhaling before replying, “None of your damn business.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, feels like you’re getting closer and closer to him.”
“Why are you gossiping like a woman?”
An Han shot him a look, then raised her pen and began copying down the key points from the lecture.
It was already November.
There were less than three months until winter break. According to the academic calendar, the holiday should start in mid-January.
Aside from resolving the off-campus housing issue, she also had to think about how to explain her changes to her mother once she went home, and how to tell her younger sister why her older brother had become an older sister.
Headache…
The long-awaited class break finally arrived.
Su Peng packed up his things and stood up, intending to invite An Han to eat together, but the moment he looked up, he saw that An Han had already dashed out of the classroom at lightning speed.
Third floor of the teaching building, faculty office.
Hearing the bell outside, Ren Chi stretched lazily and began tidying up the clutter on his desk.
Knock knock knock~
Hearing the knock, he looked up—and saw a small head with a bright, beaming smile peek in through the door.
I should’ve just left work without cleaning up…
“Come in.”
Worried that Ren Chi might leave early after work, An Han had sprinted all the way here. Her breathing was still a little heavy, her chest rising and falling.
She jogged over to Ren Chi’s desk. “Counselor.”
Seeing that she hadn’t called him “Brother Ren,” Ren Chi immediately felt relieved.
“What is it? I’m about to get off work—make it quick.”
【Mind Reading Successful】
An Han’s smile instantly became sweeter. “Brother Ren~ I want to live off campus!”
“How many times have I said it—give me a reasonable reason, and how are you going to guarantee your safety?” Ren Chi tapped the desk with his pen, dissatisfied. “If something happens to you off campus, what am I supposed to do? I’m responsible, you know!”
“The dorm really isn’t livable anymore.” An Han pulled over a chair and sat down. While trying hard to listen to his inner thoughts, she explained, “You don’t know—Long Xing has designs on me!”
‘What the hell?’
Not this line! This thought is useless!
“Really. If I don’t move out soon, Brother Long is about to be bent crooked by me!”
Though now that I’m a woman, Brother Long wouldn’t really be crooked, would he?
Ren Chi’s mouth twitched. He examined An Han’s serious expression, then looked at her delicate face, and honestly felt that such a thing happening was entirely normal.
But very quickly, his expression froze. Then he tilted his head and patted his ear with his palm.
Am I under too much pressure lately? Am I having auditory hallucinations?
“Brother Ren, what’s wrong?” An Han asked curiously.
“Nothing. Maybe you’re too troublesome and stressing me out.”
She muttered unhappily, “I just want to live outside…”
As a girl, living in a male dormitory was far too dangerous. And now that her figure was developing more and more, it was becoming increasingly impossible to hide.
Why can’t I just be flat-chested~
Ren Chi patted his ear again, his eyes full of confusion and puzzlement, but he still asked, “So have you decided where you’d live if you move out?”
‘An Han like this is really hard to handle!’
An Han’s eyes lit up—she suddenly realized there might be hope.
Isn’t it just acting cute? That’s my strong suit!
Screw my pride!
She gave up resisting the cute-body trait entirely, completely relaxing her muscles. Her cheeks puffed up involuntarily, and she began to act cute naturally, without any affectation. “Brother Ren~ isn’t it because you haven’t agreed yet?”
Ren Chi leaned back in his chair like he’d seen a ghost.
The power was overwhelming… Normally, even a slight hint of ingratiation from An Han was already hard for men to refuse. This deliberate display of cuteness made hearts race even faster.
What was even scarier was that some girls’ attempts at acting cute only felt forced and disgusting—but the student in front of him looked utterly natural.
‘More womanly than women…’
Hearing Ren Chi’s thoughts again, An Han suddenly felt a little scared—afraid that Ren Chi might also start liking her.
Teacher-student romance sounded exciting, but it always brought to mind some weird movies. Her sense of ethics wasn’t that open.
No—she couldn’t accept any man at all.
“I’ll think about it again. Stop bothering me.”
Ren Chi figured that the auditory hallucination earlier might not have been real—maybe it was just his imagination.
He’d go to the hospital for a mental evaluation, and maybe ask An Han’s friends while he was at it.
Just as An Han, now thoroughly intimidated, stood up immediately, she asked, “Then… when will you give me an answer?”
“Two days.”
At least the counselor had loosened up.
She nodded and hurriedly ran out of the office.
Out in the hallway, An Han gradually slowed her pace, another question surfacing in her mind.
She had merely relaxed and acted cute a little—could the effect really be that outstanding?
If the effect were truly that good, there should have been a notification about affection increasing, right?
And before, when she had begged Ren Chi to let her live off campus, she had also unconsciously shown a similar, somewhat coquettish attitude, hadn’t she?
An Han stopped in her tracks, then tiptoed back quietly to the office window.
There was still time left on mind reading—she’d try to see if she could randomly hear something else.
Maybe she’d catch Ren Chi’s train of thought?
She held her breath and focused, carefully listening to the sounds inside the office. If footsteps appeared, she’d retreat immediately.
‘Check An Han’s records…’
Why is Ren Chi checking my records? Because he thinks I’m more womanly than women, so he’s started doubting my gender?
An Han frowned in confusion.
“An Han?”
A sudden call from inside the room startled her. Her body stiffened, and she didn’t dare make a sound.
“Did I hear wrong?” Ren Chi muttered to himself as he walked toward the filing cabinet.
‘How could a girl be assigned to a male dormitory? And it’s already been two years. Even if there was a mistake back then, An Han would’ve been moved back to the female dorm long ago.’
Outside the office, An Han’s body instantly froze. Her pupils shrank, eyes widening.
Lowering her head, she first moved away quietly, then suddenly sprinted downstairs.
She had considered confessing to Ren Chi that she was female—but she had never figured out a reasonable explanation. After all, she couldn’t exactly drop her pants and let Ren Chi verify it.
But now—how did Ren Chi know?!
