Chapter 285 282. School Starts

Mar 31, 2026 1,388 words

Actually, Shi Yi is a pretty decent guy...

Back in high school, he was quite honest, always bringing An Han breakfast, helping run errands, buying things, and even treating her to snacks.

If nothing unexpected had happened, even after becoming a girl, An Han would have been happy to stay friends with Shi Yi.

But this guy has a thing for older women!

And he even secretly started working out behind my back!

What’s more, after just one class reunion, his affection level kept skyrocketing!

That’s terrifying!

Over the next few days, just as An Han had expected, aside from playing games on the computer and occasionally going shopping with Lin Yue, there wasn’t much else to do.

Shi Yi didn’t come bothering her again, which reassured her, though she also felt a bit regretful about losing another friend.

Before the break, she had been looking forward to staying at home all day, but after a while, she started eagerly anticipating going back to school.

Besides, the room full of pink wallpaper was really a bit too much for the eyes.

Thankfully, time passed, and it was finally the day before school started.

Her parents decided to head to the school a day early. They planned to rent a new place for An Han instead of the small hotel-like apartment she had before.

“An Han! Is your luggage ready?!”

“Yeah!”

Before long, An Han came wobbling down the stairs with a huge suitcase in hand.

Inside were clothes she had carefully picked out over several days. She had so many clothes that her wardrobe couldn’t even fit them all, and choosing what to bring had been a constant struggle.

Her younger sister followed closely behind, holding a backpack filled with chargers, hand warmers, and various small items.

Their parents had already been waiting downstairs for quite some time.

Her father was still dressed in his usual gentlemanly British style—a short black coat over a white padded jacket, with a black hat matching her mother’s.

After the New Year, the local temperature had warmed up quite a bit, and her mother couldn’t wait to take off her thick coat, putting on her favorite long dress instead. With a hat and sunglasses, she looked like a graceful lady in her early thirties.

Although her parents didn’t usually dress up much at home, standing together now, they looked perfectly matched—like a couple straight out of a fairy tale.

“Mom, aren’t you cold?”

An Han walked over with her suitcase.

“I’m wearing thermal underwear underneath,” her mother replied with a smile, then looked her up and down. “Why are you dressed so pretty? Who are you planning to see?”

An Han glanced at her father’s suddenly darkened expression and quickly explained, “School’s starting soon, so I wanted a bit of a sense of occasion.”

She was wearing a small skirt with fleece-lined black tights, leaning toward a JK-style outfit—though overall, it was still on the lighter side.

The whole family left happily, except for her sister, who looked unhappy. Even though they were going out, their mother had still made her bring the English workbook Su Peng had bought for her.

After nearly ten days, she had only finished less than half of it, and she had been complaining nonstop.

It took about an hour to drive from their town to the high-speed rail station. Since switching transportation would be troublesome, her father simply rented a car for two days and decided to drive.

As they stepped outside, An Han realized that the rental car was actually the same model as Su Peng’s—or at least the same brand.

Her father had only driven Su Peng’s car once, yet he had been thinking about it ever since.

“Put the luggage in the trunk. Let’s go.”

“You two sit in the back and fasten your seatbelts. We’ll arrive in about two hours.”

An Han got into the car happily, crossing her legs as she watched the scenery outside move past. As school approached, she couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious about campus life.

Last year, no matter how pretty she looked, people still thought she was male. But this semester, everyone would likely find out she was a girl.

How she had gone from male to female would surely become a hot topic, with all sorts of strange rumors spreading.

Especially those roommates she had lived with day and night... Long Xing already knew, which was fine, but who knew what the others would think?

Especially Chen Junjie! Who knows what nonsense he’ll come up with about me!

Lost in her thoughts, time seemed to pass quickly. After just over two hours, her father parked at the school’s main gate.

Some students had already arrived early, and the once-quiet campus was gradually coming back to life.

“This lousy school isn’t even as good as the one I went to back then.”

Her father muttered as he looked at the school gate through the car window.

Her mother’s expression darkened. “All you ever do is talk about the past, yet you haven’t made much money.”

Her father awkwardly fell silent and drove toward the hotel they had already booked near the school.

Her parents planned to rent a place for An Han and handle her student status change. After that, An Han would attend school while they treated the trip like a short vacation until her sister’s school started.

“Mom, when you go out, maybe you could stay at Su Peng’s place?”

Her mother’s eyes lit up, but her father immediately shook his head. “Why bother them?”

He didn’t seem to be in a good mood. In just a few days, he would no longer be able to stop Su Peng from meeting An Han.

Who knows what that kid might do without restrictions?

They booked two rooms. As soon as An Han and her sister entered their room and set down their luggage, they hadn’t even rested for two minutes before their parents knocked on the door.

Her sister, no longer gloomy, had completely forgotten about the workbook and excitedly ran to open the door.

“An Han, we’re going to look for a place for you now.”

Her mother peeked in and looked at An Han lying on the bed like a salted fish. “Do you want to come?”

“You go ahead. Call me when you’ve found something. I’m so tired~”

Her sister immediately ran out to join the fun. “Why not just let sis live in the park? Why rent a place!”

“Stop talking nonsense.” Their mother laughed and lightly tapped her head. “We’re leaving, okay?”

“Go ahead~”

An Han rolled over on the bed. After hearing the door close and their footsteps fade away, she suddenly jumped up after about two minutes.

I wonder if my roommates are back yet!

Grabbing her dorm key, An Han left the hotel without hesitation and jogged to the school’s back gate. Seeing it tightly shut, she hesitated.

The hotel was right across from the back gate, but since school hadn’t officially started, it wasn’t open.

She didn’t feel like walking all the way to another gate...

Guess climbing over the wall is still the best option.

Looking up at the tall fence, she remembered that she couldn’t climb it even when she was still male—now as a girl, it was even less possible.

“An Han!”

A familiar voice came from behind. She froze for a moment, then turned around to see Long Xing dragging a suitcase and waving at her from afar.

That sense of déjà vu! So strong!

【Long Xing: Affection Level 65】

Luckily, it was already within the normal close-friends range.

Her tense heart relaxed again. Standing on tiptoe, An Han called out to him:

“Bro Long! Want to climb over the wall?”

【Long Xing’s affection +5】

“!!!”

At this rate, Long Xing is going to give me a heart attack sooner or later!
