Chapter 71 071. Esports Club
He talked big about finding a girlfriend for Su Peng, but in reality, An Han barely knew any girls.
Yet, this shouldn’t have been too troublesome—at least not when it came to spotting girls who already had a crush on Su Peng.
The next morning during break time, right after class ended, An Han dashed out into the hallway and began scrutinizing every girl who walked out of the classroom.
After a moment, he finally spotted his target:
Lin Yi!
This girl always spent her breaks sitting at her desk, chin cupped in her hands, gazing dreamily at Su Peng with unmistakable adoration.
Confident in his observation and judgment, An Han immediately approached her.
“Lin Yi, got a quick word with you.”
“What?”
She was tall—nearly as tall as An Han himself—but wearing low heels, which made her appear about two centimeters taller.
Or perhaps it was just the high ponytail adding to the effect.
An Han glanced around furtively, then leaned in like a conspirator and whispered, “Do you want a boyfriend? What do you think of Su Peng?”
“Huh?” Lin Yi looked utterly bewildered, unable to process An Han’s question.
“Su Peng said he wants a girlfriend, so I’m playing matchmaker for him,” An Han explained in one breath, then added with a sly grin, “So? Interested?”
“But... I already have a boyfriend…”
“???”
If you already have a boyfriend, why are you mooning over Su Peng every day?!
An Han glared at her, but she seemed to read his thoughts and snapped back with an equally indignant glare: “What does having a boyfriend have to do with admiring a good-looking guy?!”
Well… actually, nothing?
If it were him, even with a girlfriend, he wouldn’t stop appreciating beautiful women.
His irritation instantly vanished. He muttered, “Then do you know anyone who actually likes Su Peng…?”
“Forget it,” Lin Yi crossed her arms and huffed. “Almost all the outgoing, good-looking girls in our class already have boyfriends. The only ones left are the super shy and introverted ones.” She paused, then added with a curious glint in her eye, “Instead of wasting time on this, why don’t you just tell me where you got your plastic surgery done?”
So the class has already assumed my changed appearance is due to plastic surgery?
Well, not that it matters—plastic surgery needs a doctor; I’ve got a system.
An Han turned his head away without answering. What he thought would be an easy fix had now hit a dead end.
Everything’s been going wrong lately.
He’d been trying to lower Long Xing’s affection toward Su Peng, but both Long Xing and Su Peng were being way too forgiving.
He’d finally resolved Wang Sheng’s team issue, only to realize there were no tournaments Wang Sheng could enter.
And now, trying to set Su Peng up with a girlfriend, he discovered that by junior year, nearly all the attractive, outgoing girls in class were already taken.
As for the less attractive ones—well, they’d be completely mismatched with Su Peng! At the very least, she should be prettier than me, right?
Just then, the class bell rang. An Han returned to his seat beside his roommates, looking thoroughly dejected—only to find Wang Sheng furiously tapping away on his phone.
“What’s going on? Arguing with someone?” An Han leaned over to peek at the screen. “Who is it?”
“The Esports Club president.”
“What happened?”
“He said they’re planning a tournament after the sports meet, early November—but no CS:GO.”
“So it really is early November, huh?”
An Han knew the school held an annual esports tournament as a sort of tradition, though the date varied each year.
He wasn’t surprised. “But isn’t that normal?”
He’d done a bit of research himself—these tournaments only featured games with large audiences. After all, sponsors provided the prize money and goods, while the school only contributed manpower.
A game with no audience meant no attention—and no sponsor would approve that.
Games like Wang Sheng’s CS:GO, An Han’s Dota 2, or other niche titles had never been included since the school started hosting esports events.
“I’m begging him,” Wang Sheng said anxiously. “If they don’t hold it this time, it’ll be really hard for us to find another tournament.”
An Han rested his chin in his hand and casually asked, “Who’s the club president anyway? Do I know him?”
“Wang Yu. You didn’t know?”
“???”
An Han blinked in confusion, then turned to Long Xing.
“I only found out from Wang Sheng these past couple days too,” Long Xing scratched his head awkwardly. “How was I supposed to know Wang Yu, our Fitness Club president, was also running the Esports Club? Didn’t he mention it when you recruited him?”
“He never said a word about it!”
An Han gritted his teeth, fists clenched in frustration.
If he’d known earlier, he could’ve gotten Wang Yu to organize a CS:GO tournament right when he formed the team!
Or maybe Wang Yu agreed to join precisely because he knew he’d never have to host a CS:GO event—it was just a chance to hang out and game at night without the hassle of actual competition.
Clever bastard! So scheming!
No wonder Wang Yu knew so much about organizing club tournaments—he probably does it all the time!
“I’m going to confront him after class!”
Thinking back, Wang Yu must’ve been laughing his head off inside when An Han naively talked about asking the Esports Club to host a tournament!
Seeing An Han’s angry, puffed-up expression, Long Xing quickly tried to placate him: “Don’t worry, maybe he just forgot to tell you.”
“He was totally mocking me!”
“And that explains why the Fitness Club has so few members left! He’s clearly poured all his energy into the Esports Club and completely neglected fitness!”
Long Xing quietly defended Wang Yu: “Well... most people just can’t handle the intensity. Plus, our equipment isn’t very professional. There’s also a proper gym outside campus that charges by the hour…”
Those who could endure the grind just paid for the better gym, while the rest joined the Fitness Club on a trial basis—free access, of course, meant little commitment.
An Han turned to him sharply. “Are you dissing me?”
“Me? Never!”
“Tch!”
“Quiet! Quiet down!” The teacher at the front noticed their whispering and shot An Han a warning glare.
An Han quickly shut his mouth, but his mind kept turning over whether he could possibly convince Wang Yu to hold a CS:GO tournament.
Last time, the system revealed Wang Yu was the type who couldn’t resist persistent soft approaches—so maybe the same tactic would work again?
Unfortunately, Wang Yu’s好感 (favorability) toward him was way too low. If it were around 60 or 70, An Han might’ve had some confidence—but it was only about 20, barely above “acquaintance” level, maybe not even friends.
“An Han, do you have a plan?” Wang Sheng whispered hopefully.
An Han almost shook his head, but then he saw the sheer expectation in Wang Sheng’s eyes.
Aren’t you expecting way too much from me?
“I’ll... think of something,” he reluctantly promised, unable to bear that hopeful gaze.
