Chapter 326 323. Birthday

Apr 03, 2026 1,627 words

Lying on her side at the head of the bed, An Han curled up into a ball, holding her phone with both hands as she searched for videos that interested her.

The mental preparation she had built up earlier completely collapsed once Su Peng fell asleep. Now she both hoped that Su Peng would suddenly wake up so she could complete the task, and at the same time worried that the scene would be unbearably embarrassing.

“Ten o’clock…”

The sound of snoring from the living room drifted into An Han’s bedroom. Su Peng was still sleeping like a dead pig.

“Forget it… maybe I should just drop it. There’s no punishment for not completing the task anyway.”

The only thing she had to worry about was that if she let the system push the task forward on its own, something unexpected might happen—like it occurring in public. If she completed it herself, at least she could keep the situation under control.

But the system couldn’t control her thoughts or actions. As long as she firmly refused, the system could only push the task forward through coincidences at most.

After watching two episodes of a TV drama, drowsiness began to creep into her mind.

“Twelve already.”

“Su Peng still hasn’t woken up…”

Yawning, she climbed out of bed, put on her cotton slippers, and planned to go to the bathroom, drink some water, and then sleep.

“Forget it. It’s just that Su Peng isn’t lucky enough.”

“Who told him to stay up all night yesterday and not catch up on sleep during the day after class?”

Muttering to herself, An Han pushed open the bedroom door and slowly wandered to the sofa, glancing at Su Peng who was still sleeping soundly there.

She stared at his handsome face for a moment before turning away and heading to the spare room. From there she took a thick quilt and covered him with it, worried he might catch a cold sleeping on the sofa.

Her stomach felt a little hungry.

She had originally planned to cook dinner for Su Peng herself that night, so she hadn’t eaten much.

After using the bathroom, An Han walked into the kitchen, planning to make herself a simple bowl of noodles.

It was hard to fall asleep on an empty stomach.

She didn’t usually cook at home, mostly just helping her mother out, but after watching for so long she had picked up the basics. A simple bowl of noodles was something she could manage fairly easily.

Two shrimp, a squid ring, and a fried egg~

Suddenly, she felt a pair of hands gently wrap around her waist.

Her body stiffened instantly. An Han hesitated before turning her head, only to see Su Peng standing behind her, yawning sleepily.

“Did I wake you up?” She relaxed a little, leaning her body slightly back against his chest, not minding the hand resting on her waist as she continued cooking the noodles. “Want some midnight snack? I can make you a bowl too.”

“Sure. I’m a bit hungry.”

Su Peng released her waist and leaned sideways against the kitchen counter.

“I woke up because I needed to pee.”

“Oh~”

An Han didn’t even know what she was feeling at the moment. It was already past midnight. She should have grabbed Su Peng and celebrated his birthday, completing the task first. But now that he had actually woken up, she felt completely at a loss. Her face burned with heat as she hesitated and struggled internally.

“It’s already past twelve,” Su Peng said after glancing at the time on his phone, then teasingly looked up. “So what birthday gift did you prepare for me?”

“A bowl of noodles.”

“That’s not bad.”

He didn’t mind at all. Smiling, he watched An Han’s slender and gentle figure moving around in the kitchen. Waking up in the middle of the night to a hot bowl of noodles felt warm and comforting.

And he was already experiencing that kind of life.

“I was joking… Are you going back to sleep later?” An Han asked after putting the lid on the pot.

“Yeah, I’m still pretty sleepy.”

“Alright…”

An Han didn’t know whether to feel relieved or disappointed.

Two simple bowls of noodles were ready in about ten minutes.

There was no broth and no toppings besides shrimp, squid rings, and a fried egg. The noodles were boiled in plain water with a bit of seasoning, mixed with a faint seafood flavor. The taste could only be described as average.

But Su Peng carried his bowl to the sofa and had already eaten half of it by the time he sat down, even drinking half the soup.

“Is it really that good?” An Han muttered as she sat beside him.

She was a little dissatisfied with her own cooking. She was the type who wouldn’t destroy the kitchen while cooking, but the food was only barely edible.

“It’s alright. Just a bit bland.”

“It basically has no flavor at all.”

An Han felt that next time it would be easier and tastier to just cook instant noodles.

They finished their midnight snack in silence. Su Peng took the bowls to the kitchen to wash them, while An Han didn’t stay in the living room long. After turning off the lights, she returned to her bedroom.

“I’m going to sleep first. Good night.”

“Good night.”

After closing the door, An Han quickly jumped onto the bed and pulled the blanket up over her nose and mouth, staring straight at the ceiling.

Her heart felt like it was being lightly brushed by a feather, leaving an odd itching sensation that made her want to complete the task with Su Peng right now—do something bold with him.

But she felt shy and embarrassed, worried that being too proactive would make Su Peng think she was too promiscuous.

Before she could think further, the bedroom door was gently pushed open.

“Why didn’t you lock the door when sleeping?”

“I forgot.”

An Han glanced sideways at the tall silhouette in the darkness and scooted her little butt over to the other half of the bed.

“What are you doing here? I’m going to sleep.”

“I’m worried your feet will get cold.” Su Peng quickly climbed onto the bed.

“...”

Her heartbeat began to accelerate uncontrollably. An Han pursed her lips, that little thought in her mind stirring again.

A perfect chance to complete the task!

But wouldn’t it be bad if she was too proactive?

Feeling conflicted, she turned sideways and stretched out her icy feet, pressing them against Su Peng’s leg.

Su Peng shivered from the cold. “You should probably wear socks when you sleep.”

“I’m not used to sleeping with socks on.”

As she answered, An Han also placed her hands into Su Peng’s palms.

Her heartbeat grew even faster. Unlike the last time when she had been drunk and acted boldly, she was completely sober now and painfully aware of how dangerous her actions were—how provocative they were to a man.

It’s fine. I’m on my period. It’s safe.

She comforted herself silently, then moved her body slightly again, pressing her chest against Su Peng’s back.

She never wore a bra to sleep. The thin sleepwear couldn’t block the soft sensation. Su Peng suddenly felt his breathing stop, and even the tip of his nose seemed to heat up.

Although Su Peng did harbor some improper thoughts, he still didn’t dare do anything to An Han. He only wanted to sleep together to feel a little closer.

But An Han’s initiative had gone far beyond his expectations.

“Your birthday gift…” An Han’s voice trembled slightly as she shyly pressed her forehead against his back. “You can consider it a little… bonus benefit for you…”

“You just want to see me stuck and suffering,” Su Peng said.

He thought An Han was just teasing him again like she usually did, deliberately trying to provoke him.

“Don’t get me all fired up,” he warned. “You’ll end up dragging yourself into trouble. Just sleep. It’s almost one.”

“You wouldn’t dare.”

“Who says I wouldn’t—”

An Han cut him off. “And besides, I’m on my period at the end of the month. You’re not that gross, are you?”

Su Peng became a little irritated. An Han was being too mischievous. Without thinking, he blurted out:

“Who says I can’t!”

“…”

An Han was so shocked by those crude words that she couldn’t speak. The heat on her face quickly spread everywhere—her neck, her ears, even her whole body flushing hot and red.

Su Peng also realized what he said sounded outrageous and awkwardly fell silent.

“Pervert…” An Han muttered softly.

“Just sleep. Stop messing around.”

Su Peng tried to calm things down. He closed his eyes, but his drowsiness had completely disappeared. His mind was filled with thoughts of An Han’s body.

Then he suddenly felt a hand gently brush past his waist and move downward.

“!!!”

“What are you doing?!”

He immediately grabbed An Han’s small hand in panic.

“That’s a bit extreme just because I said something wrong!”
